Pickleball Melaka Open 2026 Returns With RM11,000 Prize Pool and Two New Junior Categories

The Pickleball Melaka Open 2026 runs on 1 August at Hotshots Pickleball Social Club in Cheng, Melaka, returning for its second edition after a successful 2025 debut. Registration closes on 24 July 2026, the prize pool is RM11,000 in cash, and the 2026 edition adds two new youth development categories: Junior Doubles Under 15 and Junior Doubles Under 18.

The tournament is organised by Persatuan Legasi Gemilang Malaysia and is open to competitive and recreational players with a DUPR rating of 4.0 and below for the adult divisions. Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles carry a RM250 per pair entry fee, while both junior divisions are RM50 per pair. Players can register for multiple categories where they meet the eligibility criteria.

The four categories for 2026 are:

  • Men's Doubles — RM250 per pair, DUPR rating max 4.0, max 30 registrations, DUPR recorded
  • Mixed Doubles — RM250 per pair, DUPR rating max 4.0, max 30 registrations, DUPR recorded
  • Junior Doubles Under 15 — RM50 per pair, ages 9 to 15, DUPR not applicable, max 20 registrations
  • Junior Doubles Under 18 — RM50 per pair, ages 11 to 18, DUPR not applicable, max 20 registrations

Junior players may enter only one junior category. Adult players may enter multiple categories where they meet the criteria. A valid DUPR ID must be submitted at registration for the Men's and Mixed Doubles divisions; multiple DUPR accounts are strictly prohibited and lead to disqualification. All paddles must comply with USAPA or UPA-A standards.

Prize money and player perks

The total prize pool is RM11,000 in cash. In both Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles, first place wins RM2,000, second place RM1,500, and third place RM1,000. For both junior divisions, first place wins RM500, second place RM300, and third place RM200. Every registered player receives a woven bag, a tournament t-shirt, and mineral water on the day.

The match format is rally scoring. Group stage and Round of 16 matches play to 15 points, switching sides at 8, with sudden death at 14-14. Semi-finals, the third-place playoff, and the final play to 21 points, switching sides at 11, with serve-to-win at 20-20. Each team gets one timeout per match. A 10-minute injury timeout is allowed; if a player is deemed unfit to continue, the match is forfeited. Players must report to assigned courts on time, with a five-minute no-show leading to a forfeit and a 15-5 scoreline.
